OUR FOUNDER - GREGG SMITH

Evolution was founded by Gregg Smith in 2007 to consult private and public companies and institutional investors' portfolio companies on strategic business issues. Mr. Smith has completed over 100 private placements and offerings, and total transactions in excess of $4 billion. Until 2007, Mr. Smith was the Managing Director and Head of Cowen and Company's Private Equity Group, where he was responsible for the execution of all Private Placements, SPACs, PIPEs and Registered Direct offerings for clients in all sectors in the U.S. and abroad.

Cowen was the largest U.S. placement agent for PIPEs and Registered Direct offerings in 2006, and completed $1.8 billion in 56 private placements during Gregg’s tenure. From 2000 through June 2005, Gregg was a Principal in the Private Equity Placements Group at Banc of America Securities, where he was the lead product banker for all PIPEs and Registered Direct offerings executed by Banc of America Securities (BAS), and closed more than $1.3 billion in private transactions. He led BAS to the top of the league tables for PIPEs till his departure in 2005.

Prior to BAS, Gregg was formerly a Vice President in the investment banking departments at JW Genesis Capital Markets (acquired by Wachovia) and Ladenburg Thalmann & Co. Mr. Smith began his career as an investment banker in 1992 at Bear, Stearns & Co., where he assisted in completing more than $1 billion in public and private financings and M&A transactions.
